Next thing I knew I was booked and packed, up at an ungodly hour heading for the international airport.
Soon after that I was standing in water, forest closing in, huge mountains looking down on me and my fly rod in my hand.
How did I get to this place. Not the physical, the metaphysical.
It's been a while since I joined a group of road trippers. It was nice to sit in the backseat and just take it in. The cool north island wind in my face, and plenty to take in.
We'd just stop on the way, hunt for treasure in old wares shops, look for mushrooms, and take plenty of photos of stuff.
We walked and explored.
I'm glad I went with my instincts and booked that flight. I really had a nice taste of New Zealand. It wasn't the cities that wooed me, but mother nature.
Unlike other facets in life, she (mother nature) never lets me down. So I love her.
